Course types

A1 - Course

In A1 courses students will learn essential vocabulary for daily communication purposes and will acquire fundamental grammar structures in order to be able to communicate independently at a basic level. The four main areas of interest i.e. speaking/listening/reading/writing will be practiced alternately and supported by making use of different media such as books, CDs, booklets, short films and simple newspaper articles. In addition to cultural information we will deal among other things with the following topics:

  • Family
  • At home
  • Shopping
  • Everyday life
  • Leisure
  • Children & Schools
  • Jobs and career
  • At the doctor‘s
  • Orientation
  • Clothing

A2 - Course

Building on the A1 course students will expand their basic vocabulary for everyday communication purposes and learn more difficult grammar structures in order to be able to communicate independently. The four main areas of interest i.e. speaking/listening/reading/writing will be practiced alternately and supported by making use of different media such as books, CDs, booklets, short films and simple newspaper articles. In addition to cultural information we will deal among other things with the following topics:

  • Everyday life
  • Work
  • Leisure
  • Schools and Education
  • Shopping
  • In the city
  • Travel

B1 - Course

The B1 course focuses on the enhancement of vocabulary, on the use of more complex grammar structures and on a confident conversation in everyday contexts. The four main areas of interest i.e. speaking/listening/reading/writing will be practiced alternately and supported by making use of different media such as books, CDs, booklets, short films and simple newspaper articles. In addition to cultural information we will deal among other things with the following topics:

  • Health
  • Entertainment
  • Languages
  • Dwelling
  • Technology
  • People

B2 - Course

This B2 course focuses on the expansion of the vocabulary and the training of the communication skills at intermediate level. At the end of the course, the main content of complex texts can be understood and a conversation can be conducted with a broad range of vocabulary. In addition to this, the listening of complex texts is trained and the grammar is enriched by various structures. This is accomplished by the use of various media, such as course books, podcasts, booklets, short films and newspaper articles.

In addition to current events we will deal among other things with the following topics:

  • Culture
  • Entertainment
  • Environment
  • Technology
  • Health

Conversation Courses

Conversation courses are conceived to practice and/or to refresh previously acquired linguistic knowledge for communication purposes. We focus on and practice particular speech acts such as how to express oneself, pros vs. cons reasoning, contradicting. Moreover, vocabulary is practiced and developed according to everyday life and current affairs topics by making use of newspaper articles, short films and audio recordings.

Exam preparation courses

Exam preparation courses are designed for students who would like to take universally recognized exams such as telc or Goethe exams. This course will be held by a telc qualified teacher who will prepare students for the assessment by practicing in depth all of the exam papers. The course is completed by extra practice units for the oral exam.

IB preparation courses

IB preparation courses are designed for students of the International Schools who would like to take German as part of their IB exam. This course will be held by a qualified teacher who stays in contact with the school teacher and will prepare students for the assessment by practicing in depth all of the exam papers. The course is completed by extra practice units for the oral exam.
